Margaret Croke

Democrat for Comptroller

“As Comptroller, I'll be a watchdog for taxpayers, making sure the state pays its bills on time and spends every dollar responsibly.”

Margaret Croke is a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, serving the 12th District on Chicago’s North Side, including Lakeview East, Lincoln Park, Old Town, and the Gold Coast. In 2026 she won the Democratic nomination for Illinois Comptroller, the state’s chief fiscal officer.

Before her election to the legislature, Croke served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and worked on Governor JB Pritzker’s transition team, giving her hands-on experience with state finances and economic development. She was also women’s outreach director for Pritzker’s 2018 campaign.

In the House, Croke has focused on reproductive rights, consumer protection, and support for working families and small businesses. Running for Comptroller with Pritzker’s endorsement to succeed Susana Mendoza, she is campaigning on paying the state’s bills on time, safeguarding taxpayer dollars, and maintaining Illinois’ improved fiscal footing.
