Ernie R. Marcelain

“Bringing a working-class voice to Springfield.”

Ernie R. Marcelain is the Democratic candidate for Illinois State Senate District 38. A Yorkville resident, he manages a small family-owned printing company and brings a working-class background to the race, having served four years as a firefighter and EMT with the Montgomery Fire Department and spent years as a union member. He studied business at Waubonsee Community College.

Married for 25 years and the father of a daughter, Marcelain is active in his community as a longtime supporter of the Vietnam veterans advocacy group VietNow and a member of Indivisible, and has volunteered with local food and toy drives. His campaign emphasizes affordability and the cost of living, expanding healthcare access, and supporting small businesses.
